of Dept.: |
The Department was organized in 1979 and till 1980 was named as the Department of Optical&Spectral Apparatus. Initially it was assumed by the Institute Board that the Department would become a specialized instrumentation design bureau meant for intensification of experimental works in the Institute and able to introduce numerous instrument inventions to the industry. As there were considerable organizational difficulties and doubts about the need of a small Institute to have a self-financing specialized design bureau, that idea transformed to that of organization of a specialized instrumentation laboratory, which united specialists in optics and laser equipment, in computers and automation, designers and auxiliary personnel. To speed up designing of devices, making of experimental models and to completed design works the Laser Spectral Instrumentation Laboratory (LSIL) was supported by two special Departments of the Experimental Production Division (EPD): Optics and Mechanics Dept. and the Dept. for Circuit Assembly and Regulation of Radioelectronic Apparatus. The main task of LSI Department is scientific optical spectral instrument-making i.e. developing and designing new optical spectral and optical electronic instruments, apparatus and setups including such ones which were invented and designed as laboratory models in other research laboratories of the Institute, creation of new apparatus on the basis of these developments and modernization of available experimental setups, production of small series of instruments and setups for laboratories of the Institute and other organizations. |
